Lawn sweepers can save a lot of time on yard maintenance and make almost any yard the envy of the neighborhood.
Many people believe that sweepers and leaf blowers are the same but there are differences. A sweeper is sort of like a aggregate between a mower and a vacuum. It is pushed across the yard and the leaves will be picked up and deposited into a bag at the back. The bag can be detached from the sweeper and dumped.

There are three main types of sweepers which are:

Powered - This runs on either gasoline or electricity
Hand Powered - This is propelled by the someone using it
Towed - This is connected to whatever vehicle will be used to go over the lawn
If the yard is large it is easier and less time lively to use the towed lawnsweeper as opposed to the other types. If the yard has many trees a Powered sweeper will work best. The hand powered sweeper works best for small yards with few leaves.
Many sweepers can be used on concrete, decks and patios along with many other surfaces. Depending on the atmosphere sweepers can be used all year long which makes them an affordable piece of equipment as compared to units that can only be on exact surfaces or at distinct times of the year. Width is an additional one selection to consider. The larger the width the less passes it will take to cover the lawn but if the yard has a lot of trees or odd angles a wide width sweeper may be hard to maneuver. The final observation is weight. If there are steep grades or drop-offs in the yard a Lighter sweeper will be easier to handle.
There are a few things to remember when shopping for a lawnsweeper. There are separate sizes of catch bags. Some sweepers come with a shredder others do not. If the leaves will be used as compost or mulch this is a nice feature to have. Selecting a sweeper with a height adjuster can save time and may be very beneficial for yards that have separate levels.
There are quite a few reasons to use a lawnsweeper. Some of them are:
Lawn Damage: When leaves build up on a lawn they form a cover over the grass and could leave bald, damaged patches in the yard the following season.
Safety: Leaves can cause people to slip and fall when they form on hard surfaces.
Saving Money: Leaves can be used in compost heaps or mulch which allows a someone to buy less compost or mulch for the following year.
Sweepers can be a sound investment for those that have large yards, lots of leaves, and compost or mulch piles. Also if there is a concern about dark or non-growing patches of grass while growing season, or a desire to have a well maintained and clean yard then a lawnsweeper should be considered.
We have all experienced that dreaded feeling of waking up on the weekend and looking out the window to see the lawn covered in leaves. It may not be the end of the world, but when fall rolls nearby I know all I'm reasoning about doing is Watching football. I suppose if we are going to have to sweep up the lawn anyway we might as well look at what tools are ready for the job. If a man is going to do work nearby the house, he needs the right tool.
We all know and have used the first-rate lawn sweeping tool, the rake. Nothing is more tested and reliable. We've all had the deLight of throwing on some gloves and tackling the whole yard with a rake and a stack of garbage bags. There is nothing wrong with the rake, in fact even if you invest in a lawnsweeper or a leaf blower you will still need to keep your rake handy for the fine detail work. Lawn sweepers just can't get right next to the house or fence line.

The next selection is a leaf blower. Now these babies are fun. It sort of reminds me of the old phrase "kill a mosquito with a hammer". When you are using a leaf blower, you de facto have abundance of Power for the job. I de facto enjoy myself when I'm using a gasoline Powered leaf blower to get rid of all the loose debris in my path. They do make a pretty nice selection of electric blowers now, but I've never used one. The biggest drawback to the leaf blower is where the leaves go after they've been blown. I've had more than one upset neighbor when I was a bit careless using my blower. The Noise is other drawback (I de facto don't mind the Noise, but your neighbors might).
Lawn Sweepers - The Best Tool For Clearing the Yard?

The last tool is the lawnsweeper. This is a mechanical tool (not Powered) that rotates a bunch of brush like sweepers inside a cylindrical housing to pick up loose debris off your lawn. Lawn sweepers come in 2 flavors, the push lawnsweeper and the tow behind lawnsweeper. Basic rule of thumb when picking which one is to base it off of what you use to mow your lawn. If you use a riding lawn mower, a tow behind sweeper is probably the one for you. If you push mow your yard, get the push lawnsweeper. Lawn sweepers are quiet and very easy to use, but they don't just do the job for you. You still have to empty the collected leaves into a bag and tie it up. As I mentioned earlier, you still need to rake the hard to reach place that the lawnsweeper just can't get to (under trees, near retaining walls, next to the house, etc).
