Lawn Sweepers - The Best Tool For Clearing the Yard?

Review

We have all experienced that dreaded feeling of waking up on the weekend and looking out the window to see the lawn covered in leaves.  It may not be the end of the world, but  when fall rolls nearby I know all I'm reasoning about doing is Watching football.  I suppose if we are going to have to sweep up the lawn anyway we might as well look at what tools are ready for the job.  If a man is going to do work nearby the house, he needs the right tool.

We all know and have used the first-rate lawn sweeping tool, the rake.  Nothing is more tested and reliable.  We've all had the deLight of throwing on some gloves and tackling the whole yard with a rake and a stack of garbage bags.  There is nothing wrong with the rake, in fact even if you invest in a lawn sweeper or a leaf blower you will still need to keep your rake handy for the fine detail work.  Lawn sweepers just can't get right next to the house or fence line.

The next selection is a leaf blower.  Now these babies are fun.  It sort of reminds me of the old phrase "kill a mosquito with a hammer".  When you are using a leaf blower, you de facto have abundance of Power for the job.  I de facto enjoy myself when I'm using a gasoline Powered leaf blower to get rid of all the loose debris in my path.  They do make a pretty nice selection of electric blowers now, but I've never used one.  The biggest drawback to the leaf blower is where the leaves go after they've been blown.  I've had more than one upset neighbor when I was a bit careless using my blower.  The Noise is other drawback (I de facto don't mind the Noise, but your neighbors might).

The last tool is the lawn sweeper.  This is a mechanical tool (not Powered) that rotates a bunch of brush like sweepers inside a cylindrical housing to pick up loose debris off your lawnLawn sweepers come in 2 flavors, the push lawn sweeper and the tow behind lawn sweeper.  Basic rule of thumb when picking which one is to base it off of what you use to mow your lawn.  If you use a riding lawn mower, a tow behind sweeper is probably the one for you.  If you push mow your yard, get the push lawn sweeperLawn sweepers are quiet and very easy to use, but they don't just do the job for you.  You still have to empty the collected leaves into a bag and tie it up.  As I mentioned earlier, you still need to rake the hard to reach place that the lawn sweeper just can't get to (under trees, near retaining walls, next to the house, etc).
